Dra. Claudia Maricusa Agraz Hernández




Biography

She was born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa on January 26, 1968. She completed her degree in the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, obtaining the title of Fisheries Biologist in 1991. She completed a master's degree in the Institute of Marine Sciences and Limnology, UNAM in 1994; and the doctorate at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, in Biological Sciences in 1999, specializing in Restoration of ecosystems, with honorable mention "Summa cum laude".
Subsequently, she made the postdoctoral at the University of Louisiana, USA (2000-2001).


Currently, she has worked at the EPOMEX Institute since 2002 as Research Professor C (definitive), and has developed more than 60 research projects on conservation issues, assessment of environmental impact, restoration, climate change effect, emission of gases from greenhouse effect, and blue carbon capture in mangrove ecosystems and seagrass meadows, with international collaborations in: United States, Brazil, Honduras, Costa Rica, Spain, France and Africa. She has taught 75 courses, and directed 45 theses at undergraduate, masters and doctorate level in national postgraduate recognized by CONACyT and international; She has participated in national and international congresses, with lectures. She has published indexed, refereed and dissemination articles, book chapters and books. She is Vice President of the National Mangrove Committee of Mexico, Member of the National Academy of Environmental Sciences AC Member of the Ibero-American Integrated Coastal Management Network (IBERMAR) through the EPOMEX Focal Node of Mexico, Network for Knowledge of the Coastal Resources of the Southeast of Mexico (RECORECOS). Mexican Network of Integrated Coastal-Marine Management. She has been advisor to the Senate, Chamber of Deputies and invited to the NASA GoMRC program in 2009. Recognition Desirable profile (PRODEP). She has participated in the National Committee of Wetlands and professor and advisor of international research projects with the United Nations Program. Network for knowledge of the Coastal Resources of Southeast Mexico (RECORECOS). Mexican Network of Integrated Coastal-Marine Management. It belongs to the State Committee for Forest Health. Recognition by CONABIO as national expert in mangroves. Citizen representative before the CONAGUA of the coastal wetlands. Gulf Guardian Award ("Gulf Guardian Award") to participate in the project "Mangrove Restoration in Key Mexican Coastal Lagoons at the Gulf of Mexico", awarded by EPA.
